Picks of the Week: Ads, Mini-docs and more

The round up for this week’s favourites

Ads

Cat Lovers Deserve to Die, a controversial Ad by the Lung Cancer Alliance. This campaign was accompanied by supersize posters that were ripped down by members of the public angered by the slogan.

Mini-Doc

The Making of the Leica M9-P Hermes Edition. Beautiful film on the craftsmanship of traditional cameras. Immerse yourself and watch it in full screen.

Music

Currently my favourite band Alt-J with their new single Tessellate. Love the contrast of themes between the folk dub step music and the gangster imagery.

Art

George the Poet’s “My City”. An expression of the forgotten parts of London. Directed by Rob Ryan. Filmed by Paul Kirsop and graded by Fergus Hally.

TV

24 Hours in A&E on Channel 4. Brilliant week after week. Catch it before it finishes, Wednesdays at 9pm on channel 4 or anytime at 4od.

Members of the public tearing down posters for the Lung Cancer Alliance simply because they’re too ignorant to understand the message is crazy! Interesting ad and at least it’s bought attention to the charity.

Probably more than the agency behind it bargained for I’m sure!
